Navigating Protected Areas with Confidence
With the cruising permit in hand, yachts can explore the Galapagos National Park’s protected areas. However, strict regulations govern these visits:
- A licensed naturalist guide must accompany the vessel at all times
- Visits are limited to pre-approved sites
- Adherence to environmental guidelines is mandatory
These measures are in place to preserve the delicate ecosystem of the Galapagos Islands.

Emergency Permits and Fueling Authorizations
In unforeseen circumstances, such as mechanical issues or medical emergencies, yachts can apply for an emergency permit to dock at the nearest port for up to 72 hours.
This requires immediate coordination with local authorities and a valid justification.
Additionally, obtaining a fueling permit is necessary for refueling operations within the islands. This involves:
- Scheduling fuel deliveries in advance
- Ensuring compliance with environmental protocols
- Coordinating with authorized fuel providers
